We spend endlessly on high-end moisturizers to get rid of dry and flaky skin. However, some common products in our kitchen are known to have similar moisturizing benefits. Why spend on expensive treatments when some simple DIY masks can give you hydrated and supple skin?

Every ingredient in these masks helps to moisturize and nourish, making these the ideal solution for keeping dry skin healthy and beautiful.

 Olive Oil and Banana Face Mask

Bananas are super nutritious and packed with many vitamins and minerals. Ripened bananas, when applied to the skin, provide moisture and nutrition. They act as an emollient and help in softening the skin.

Olive Oil is a powerhouse of Vitamin E and Antioxidants which together help in treating dry and damaged skin. It protects the skin from free radical activity and acts as the perfect moisturizer for dry skin.

Banana mixed with olive oil makes the perfect face mask for dry skin.

What you’ll need

½ Ripe Banana

1 tbsp. Olive Oil

Mash half ripe banana properly (Ensure there are no chunks ) and mix with one tablespoon olive oil. Leave for 30 minutes and wash with lukewarm water.

Use this mask once or twice a week to keep skin moisturized and soft.

Yogurt and Honey Mask

Besides vitamins and minerals, yogurt contains lactic acid which acts as a gentle exfoliator and moisturizer. When applied topically, yogurt works to hydrate the skin and keeps it soft. It helps in brightening the skin tone and is an effective anti-aging agent.

Honey is a natural humectant (it attracts and retains moisture) which makes it a great moisturizer. Honey is an antimicrobial, enhances texture and soothes the skin.

What you’ll need

1 tbsp. Plain Yogurt

1 tbsp. Honey

Mix one tablespoon yogurt with one tablespoon honey. Apply on the face for 20 minutes and wash with warm water. Pat dry and follow with a moisturizer.

Papaya- Honey -Milk Face Mask

Papaya is a fruit known for its skin and beauty benefits. It revitalizes dull and dry skin, hydrates and keeps skin young. It is a natural exfoliator which gently sloughs off dead skin cells.

Milk moisturizes dry skin and brightens the complexion. It consists of water, fat and proteins that help in replenishing skin moisture and keeping skin supple.

Use this mask once or twice a week on dry skin.

What you’ll need

Few Cubes Peeled and Cubed Ripe Papaya

1 tbsp. Honey

1 tbsp. Milk

Take a ripe papaya and peel the skin. Cut few cubes from the peeled papaya and make a smooth paste in a blender. Mix one tablespoon Honey and one tablespoon Milk. Apply this paste on the face for 20 minutes. Wash with plain water.

Almond-Oatmeal-Milk Face Pack

Almonds are not just meant for snacking. These nutritious nuts have been traditionally used in skin care because of several reasons. Almonds are rich in nutrients and antioxidants that nourish, keep skin blemish free and improve its texture. Almond oil is incredibly softening and keeps skin moisturized.

Oatmeal is another skin superfood that soothes and hydrates the skin.

What you’ll need

1 tbsp. Almond Paste

1 tbsp. Oatmeal

1 tbsp. Milk

Soak 3-4 almonds for a minimum of 6 hours (you can also soak the almonds overnight). Remove the outer skin and make a smooth paste. Mix this paste with one tablespoon milk and one tablespoon oatmeal. Apply on the face and massage into the skin. Leave for 20 minutes and wash with plain water.

This mask will exfoliate and remove impurities and dead skin cells besides moisturizing the skin.

Malai and Honey Face Pack (Milk Cream and Gram Flour Face Pack)

Malai (Milk Cream) provides intense moisturization and is especially suitable for dry skin. It nourishes skin and acts as a complexion enhancer. Regular use of malai softens the skin and helps in getting rid of dry patches.

What you’ll need

1 tbsp. Malai

1 tbsp. Honey

Mix one tablespoon Malai with one tablespoon Honey. Apply this paste on the face and massage gently into the skin. Leave for 20 minutes and wash with lukewarm water.
