We focus a lot on facial skincare but what about the rest of our body? Yes, our body needs our attention and can you think of a better way to pamper it than an amazing body scrub? We all know how important is exfoliation for our skin and while we regularly exfoliate our facial skin, most of us rarely use a body scrub.

Before you think of going to a spa or buying an expensive body scrub from the market, we recommend trying these homemade scrubs that are made with simple kitchen ingredients. These are specially meant for dry skin and will gently slough away dead cells besides providing intense nourishment.

Most of these DIY body scrub recipes use sugar as the base with other commonly available ingredients like coconut oil, olive oil, and honey. These homemade scrubs will give you supremely soft skin and a spa-worthy experience.

Sugar ScrubSugar scrubs are incredibly expensive and we don’t want you to spend your money on something you can make at home :-).  A classic sugar body scrub is easy to make and provides a salon-like experience at home. When used regularly, it helps in revealing soft, smooth skin. Sugar crystals act as natural humectants and effective exfoliators that give a smooth appearance to the skin while olive oil or coconut oil works to moisturize and nourish dry skin.

What you’ll need

Four tablespoons Sugar

Two tablespoons Coconut Oil /Olive Oil

Mix two tablespoons sugar and two tablespoons coconut oil or olive oil ( Read more about the beauty benefits of coconut oil HERE). Use this homemade scrub gently on the body in the shower to buff away dry skin. Rinse well.

Banana-Honey ScrubDon’t blame us if you feel tempted to eat this scrub! This oh-so-delicious body scrub is super nourishing for dry skin and can be whipped up in minutes.

Banana is a superfood rich in vitamins, potassium, iron and other minerals. It moisturizes the skin and helps in diminishing signs of aging. This anti-oxidant rich fruit is great for dry skin and can be used for a homemade body scrub with sugar.

Green Tea Scrub If you are a green tea lover, then you will love this body scrub. It is refreshing and relaxing just like a cup of warm green tea. Green tea is a powerhouse of antioxidants, protects the skin from free radicals, acts on fine lines and wrinkles.

Honey is loaded with nutrients that cleanse, nourish dry skin and soothe minor inflammations.

What you’ll need

One Green Tea Bag

Two Tablespoons Sugar

Brewed Green Tea

Olive Oil

Brew one tea bag in half cup water and let it sit for some time.

Tear the tea bag and remove the leaves into a bowl, Add one tablespoon olive oil (You can read more about using olive oil in skincare HERE) and two tablespoons sugar to it. Now add the cooled tea to this mixture.

It should form a thick paste-like consistency with sugar particles acting as the perfect exfoliators that help in getting rid of impurities. Addition of dry green tea gives a rough texture to the scrub which improves exfoliation.

This refreshing homemade body scrub will whisk away dryness and leave you with beautiful, polished skin.

Oatmeal scrub Luxurious and soothing, this gentle scrub uses Oatmeal to exfoliate dead skin. Yes, your go-to morning breakfast doubles up as an effective skincare agent. Oatmeal is a gentle cleanser and exfoliator that can be easily used on dry skin.
