Coconut Oil is everywhere! Your favorite celebrities swear by its benefits, many beauty bloggers are obsessed with this miraculous oil and it probably finds a place in your beauty routine too!

Coconut Oil is incredibly nourishing and is excellent for treating dry hair. I have been using it since my childhood and coconut oil still finds a permanent place in my haircare routine. I use it for a weekly deep conditioning treatment and as a part of my hair masks. Like olive oil, DIY coconut oil hair masks are a fabulous way of softening hair and taming unruly tresses.

I am sharing with you some simple DIY Coconut Oil Hair Masks that give amazing results when used regularly for a month. These hair masks hydrate hair and provide ample nourishment making your hair appear shiny, healthy and frizz free.

Benefits Of Coconut Oil For Hair

We’re all aware of the benefits of coconut oil. But what exactly makes it as one of the best remedies for hair? The answer lies in its composition-it is rich in nutrients that are rare to find and provide numerous beauty benefits.

Conditions Hair-Coconut Oil is rich in fatty acids that are amazing for improving hair texture. In fact, lauric acid which is a medium chain fatty acid (MCFA) is found in abundance and forms about 50% of the total MCFA in coconut oil. Lauric acid and other fatty acids have the ability to penetrate deep into the hair strand. These fats condition the hair by replenishing lost moisture.

Provides Nourishment– Besides fatty acids, coconut oil is full of vitamins and antioxidants that are great for nourishing hair. These nutrients improve hair strength and prevent breakage. You will notice fewer split ends if you regularly use coconut oil.

Protects Hair-Coconut oil protects the hair by supplying nutrients that are essential for maintaining hair texture. When used as a leave-in serum, it forms a protective coating around your hair and prevents damage.

Scalp Health– Since coconut oil has antimicrobial properties, it is known to improve scalp health.  And, a  healthy scalp=less hair fall!

Do you know what? I have used coconut oil in cooking before but I have never actually tried using it for my hair or as a hair mask. This is something that I need to change as my hair is definitely in need of some nourishment!

Superb tips Vasundhra! I love a good coconut oil massage but never thought of using it in a hair mask. For that matter, I rarely use hair masks because they get too lazy to deal with all the mess on my hair. But that has to change this new year! So, i am going to be on of the first few to use your hair masks ideas 🙂
